This lesson focuses on arts as they pertain to drawing/sketching and painting and how the Hudson River School.

Participants will learn different drawing and sketching techniques through experimentation.
Participants will observe the world around them.
Participants will have a better understanding of the complexities of a major waterway based on observations.
Paper
Pencils
Crayons, markers and/or colored pencils (optional pastels and watercolors)
Clipboards
Provide a variety of materials to choose from.
Allow for creativity and expression.
Allow participants to choose a site within a boundary.
Students will draw/sketch the landscape as they see it, allowing for personal interpretation and individual points of view.
Encourage students to include as many details as possible.
Optionally, encourage students to share and discuss their drawings with each other.
Participants may be shy about sharing or conscientious about drawing skills.
A different mode of expression from written understanding.
