Water travels in many ways, it may run off a surface or travel through it.
Schoolyards offer many surfaces for exploration. Some will be permeable and some will be impermeable.
How stormwater and pollutants may travel through or over surfaces.

Container or bucket for water.

Access to different surfaces like blacktop, concrete, grass, gravel etc..
Students will come up with a hypotheses regarding the experiment.
Explain the different options and where the glossary may help them with predictions and outcomes.
Students will put a P in the table for all of their Predictions.
As the experiment continues and they test the different soil types they will place a T for outcome of their Test.
Compare predictions with actual tested results.
Student will be surprised by some of their predictions vs test results.
Students will learn how permeable soils allow for water to percolate.
Students will discover how some surfaces absorb and some pool water.
