This is a great brainstorming activity to warm up with students when initiating a unit about water!
This activity builds vocabulary and reinforces common terminology to be explored in your water study.
The word cloud graphic tool is helpful for the visual learner, presenting vocabulary in a more interesting, creative way.

Your word list can be generated by brainstorming together and coming up with a list as a group, or each student can generate their own list (this is best done as a document that can be uploaded to the word cloud website).

A word cloud is a visual representation of vocabulary - a collection or cluster of related words that appear larger or more bold in relationship to the frequency they are used.

The Word Cloud generator tool can be used for any topic. Work individually or as a group to brainstorm & compile vocabulary lists about weather, climate change, conservation, aquatic species, or any other topic you are exploring!
Students' Water Names can be input into the Word Cloud generator to make a fun visual display!
